Private health funds
Many private health funds provide rebates for psychological services. The conditions and level of rebate vary considerably between funds and plans. We encourage you to check with your fund before your first visit.
You can not claim both a Medicare rebate and one from your private health insurance, and private health funds are not allowed to offer gap cover.
Other sources of cover
If you are have been injured in the workplace or in a traffic accident, the cost of your care may be covered by schemes such as workers compensation or compulsory third party motor insurance. It is essential that you gain approval from the scheme before your first visit. Special provisions may also apply to veteran and victims of crime.
Salamanca Psychology uses a sliding fee schedule that recognises the nature and source of the consultation or referral, the amount of time that is involved and other professional factors.
A small gap payment is normally required in addition to any Medicare or private health fund rebate. This does not apply to patients who are bulk billed.
Unless otherwise negotiated, government agencies, other organisations and psycho-legal referrals are charged at the professional rates recommended by the Australian Psychological Society.
